#HelloWorld! As active members of the open-source community, ProtonMail supports open source projects like Mastodon. Mastodon’s decentralized nature reminds us of the days when the Internet was free and not under the control of a few monopolist giants. Our followers can look forward to toots about service updates, new projects, and news on privacy.
When will the linux bridge available for Linux? And opensource? I have a premium protonmail account and can't really use it on my laptop.
@carl @protonmail It's been available for a while now. Not that perfect, but works.
@carl We're currently investigating this issue and working on resolving it with one of our next updates for the Bridge app. Would you mind sending us your logs located in Bridge->Help->Logs so we can further look into this issue and see what is causing this error? Thank you in advance.
@protonmail HI! Do you have an account on here for ProtonVPN?
@protonmail Hey. Glad to see you guys here!
@protonmail your service is really good btw
i have pretty much switched all my steam accounts and everything over to protonmail
i think the fact that you make payment optional for basic users is what i like as i don't need email for complex stuff just the basics
@codythedragonrude We are happy to hear this! Thanks for the support, it really means a lot to us.
@protonmail Oh! Hello other you! Look at you go!
@protonmail welcome to Mastodon!
@protonmail hey! Welcome to fediverse!! Great to see you here!
@protonmail I haven't looked at it in a while, but do you plan to one day free and «decentralize» the proton server components ? Because right now you're just anothe silo. Better than most, because crypto, but still a silo.
@RLetot This might not be possible for everything, but there are definitely some parts of the service that can be decentralized and we are actively looking into that.
Great, eagerly waiting for a free decentralized proton server 😃
@Obiols ben fet
@protonmail welcome from a reasonably happy customer :-)
Any update on this? Now I recognize that the linux desktop is a small demographic, but consider it might comprise of self-selected privacy fans :-)
"The #ProtonMail Bridge application for Linux is currently in open beta. The full version is scheduled for release later in 2018"
@grumpy_developer Hi! We are currently working on the official release for the Bridge app.
If everything goes well with our testing, we plan to release it later this year. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
@protonmail Bienvenu !
@protonmail Welcome! 🔐
Hi, Protonmail Plus user here, and I'd like an answer to this too. I don't need push notifications, and the way things are set up now I still need a Google account to use your mail (unless I feel like shelling out for, and putting up with, an iPhone). Tutanota has an fdroid app and for that reason alone I'm considering switching.
@polyplacophora @farlopito @fdroidorg Hi! Thank you for supporting us with a paid account. It means a lot. The process of publishing our app on F-droid has already started. We need to make a few steps before doing this. In the next couple of months it should be done. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
That's great news! Hopefully we can get rid of the Google Play Services dependency.
@farlopito @fdroidorg @protonmail it's UNOFFICIAL but I found this : https://unofficial-protonmail-repository.gitlab.io/unofficial-protonmail-repository/fdroid/repo/index.html
@protonmail hey! Welcome aboard and thanks for your great service!
@protonmail Yeah ! \o/
@firstname.lastname@example.org but unfortunately protonmail server itself is not open source itself
@protonmail it’s the fediverse… not the _mastodon network_™
(funny enough you wouldn’t see the added emphasis in this post because mastodon really hates rich text)
@protonmail Good to have you here!
Really cool to see you here! I was one of the initial round of crowd funders; been using it ever since. :)
@Lingondraken 👋 Thanks for supporting us with a paid plan! It helps us improve and grow Protonmail.
I am actually on the free plan, but I was in, and found you through the IndieGoGo campaign!
@protonmail I seriously hope you guys start taking the privacy aspect seriously enough and focus on open sourcing the apps you've built.
Praying every day to see those F-droid/FOSS announcements soon 'cause I really like the service and wouldn't want to make another move.
Either way, a warm welcome to the fediverse.
