YouTube is probably over.
It’s been a lot of small steps, but this is the end.
As of December 10th, Youtube will delete channels that are “no longer commercially viable.”
How could a channel that’s demonetized be “commercially viable”?
“Broadcast yourself” is finished.
@darkfrog IMHO, an adblocker is firstly a security measurement keeping well-used malware channels closed and not something that blocks ads for my personal advantage.
@publicvoit
free online video storage is over
@uuim AFAIR, there are still alternatives to YouTube
@publicvoit
the cloud betrayed us all...
@uuim They did not betray us. We had false assumptions and were naïve: https://karl-voit.at/cloud/
@publicvoit I didn't run adblockers until a youtube channel I follow said "Your time is more valuable than what I get from ads, install an adblcoker".
I wonder if there are channels where a high percent of the viewers have adblockers installed or channels that get most of the revenue through a 3rd party like patreon. Even if it starts out targetting actual nazis, I fear the wording is a slippery slope.
