So all of these federated mastodon instances are neat, but I'm not seeing anyone making up interesting weird rule sets yet.
It seems like if we're gonna to build a galaxy, our planets should have cultures, right?
I want instances where you're not allowed to use the letter p. Where you can only use a different subset of unicode every day. Where you can only post from certain geographic locations or while going certain speeds.
Basically, I want oulipo mastodon.

@qdot I've had a mid-tier Ubuntu VPS from prgmr.com running for a few years with random experiments & things. About $20/mo but Mastodon's not all I have on it. Was cake to set up with Docker. Not too much harder to move to direct install on the host - I just kind of read through the Vagrantfile & Dockerfile and did those things by hand
Welp. I think this is my first true "mastodon moment".
That feeling that someone else out there had the same thought as you AND gets shit done is pretty awesome. Totally fucking made my night. :D

@qdot what would be even cooler is if the rules developed organically, unconsciously, without ppl even realizing it ... I do think most incidents probably resemble each other, that's the way the world works nowadays
