Mastodon feels too chaotic, with too much content I dont care about. Is this a necessity for a "good" facebook alternative?
@qqtolene Actually It's more similar to twitter alternative. That's more similar to Twitter's property. If you want more simillar product to facebook, Consider to try diaspora*, Friendica, Hubzilla.

@qqtolene True for local and federated, but if you follow the right people, you can have a pretty cool home timeline (and there's also the hashtags)
@qqtolene You curate what you want to see by following people you want to follow, and filter your home TL appropriately.
Mastodon isn't trying to be a replacement for Facebook specifically, it's just... different.
