Plan: #knitting and #TheAdventureZone until #Eurovision. Which is nine hours away. I party hard, y'all!
@quatschmitsauce It doesn't need to be a hashtag for them to filter it using the regex thingie :d
@Gargron @quatschmitsauce yeah, for example, I have "Eurovision" filtered out. Tagging is only necessary if you want discoverability in a search for that hashtag
@Gargron Fair point. But if I don't use hashtags people can't find my high quality content!!!1!11
@Gargron
Either I am blind or mastalab does not allow filtering... :S
@quatschmitsauce
@quatschmitsauce too bad that we have such bad feelings about tagging things.
I try to tag them at the bottom and not inline so it's not so annoying.
I blame marketing and 'brands' with hashtags on every ad
@charlag @quatschmitsauce I think some people want a switch to a more tumblr-like system of tags and I see both sides of that issue
@trwnh What is a more Tumblr-like system?
@quatschmitsauce on tumblr, tags are a separate field and are displayed below posts in a slightly muted text color
@trwnh Okay. I wasn't quite sure how you meant it.
It would also be cool to put them in a hidden field. Like next to "reply", "boost", "fav" and "more" a "tags". But as someone who knows noting about anything I don't know how realistic that would be.
@quatschmitsauce t looks kind of like this, for context
@charlag I also usually put them after the actual text but it just seemed redundant to use the words twice if I could just add the #.
I don't actually mind the tagging, it just looks so ugly. I mute people who write toots like that, though, so I need to either find a better system or stop being such a hypocrite.
@quatschmitsauce you haven't muted me yet. So... Yes, stop being the thing. 😂 @charlag
@quatschmitsauce (It makes me happy when people use a lot of hashtags! It means people can find other people who share their interests.)
@cassolotl I like finding toots about shared interests but I also just realized that it doesn't have to be a hashtag for people to be able to filter it (like it would be on Twitter) so I'm only going to use hashtags for toots I want people to maybe see. Just saying "I'm going to knit until Eurovision" doesn't seem interesting for either knitters or Eurovision-wachers xD
@quatschmitsauce Ahhhh I get you. :) Yeah, that makes sense if you think of hashtags as being sort of like a very public group or something!
@quatschmitsauce cant knit myself but would love to see progress!
@hal I'll start after I'm done with this soup and I hope I don't get distracted and actually do knit most of the time. Wish me luck!
That was one of my worst toots. I want people to filter things they're not interested in... but damn, it looks like shit.
