When I said "It's normal to be confused by this at first." I should've added that I'm still kind of confused, after four months, and absolutely not qualified to answer your questions.
BUT there are so many others who CAN answer them. Just scream it into the void and some nice person will come to your aid.

@quatschmitsauce Most people are confused about everything, the older I get the more I am convinced everyone is either blagging it or just utterly oblivious to everything around them.
@Messgorough Fair point. But I felt like saying that so people don't ask me things and are then crushed by disappointment because I don't know anything.
