look, now everybody builds some shit, like etc.

what we should to instead is to build an framework that can be extended with plugins to whatever purpose necessary

one core that contains the federation tidbits and a myriad of plugins to fit any crazy idea, got it?

and let's include federated storage into the whole thing as well

Welp, I finally got around to relaunching the #Mailpile live demos: demo.mailpile.is/

So if you're wondering what exactly I'm always talking about, that's a quick intro...

Once I'm confident they are mostly behaving well, I need to update the website to link to them again, tweet about it, and let the i18n community know that they can use the demos to see the outcome of their work.

And yes, I know the language list should be in the languages themselves. It's not yet perfect!

Never mind the ugly website: if you're a programmer tasked with making diagrams, PlantUML is your buddy. You can describe them in editor- and VSC-friendly plaintext like:

```
@startuml
Alice -> Bob: Authentication Request
Bob --> Alice: Authentication Response
Alice -> Bob: Another authentication Request
Alice <-- Bob: another authentication Response
@enduml
```

and let the app render them to a PNG for you.

Wire, Threema, or Signal? What am I going to recommend to friends and family on WhatsApp? I leaning towards Wire right now even though I used Threema in the past.

Wow, FileZilla’s bundled installer includes a malware downloader and the dev defends it horribly.

If using FileZilla, uninstall and find something else. Even if this issue is fixed, the morally ambiguous and defensive response is very concerning.

Hey fediverse! Any recommendations for a self-hosted kanban board that works on mobile browser?

I've looked at Kanboard, but mobile doesn't seem to be good. I don't think Wekan is pulling it off yet either. Restyaboard has a mobile app, but I'm not a fan of its super complicated-looking cards. Jira is the current top contender but I'd prefer #FOSS obvs.

Best #vintagecomputing media format ever. Fuck Zip drives, this is where it's at. Weak Zip only uses magnetic fields. This uses magnets AND lasers! Specifically, lasers to fry the material to 400C so that a magnetic field can alter the magnetic polarization and simultaneously change the reflected wavelength of the material. HOW BADASS IS THAT?!?!?!
