These error codes might have been added as a joke, but if you search for them, you will find out these codes are apparently used in GNU Hurd?! gnu.org/software/hurd/faq_inli

Und trotz der Erfahrungen ließ sich die SPD wieder auf eine große Koalition ein. In der ja einseitig mehrfach leider nichts gemacht werden konnte, weil es nicht im Koalitionsvertrag stand? Too little, too late.

But by now, I've been using Linux almost daily for over 15 years. That is half of its entire lifetime. An amazing experience.

Eventually I a copy of Mandrake Linux that came with a driver for the ISDN card that worked out of the box. That was a lucky day that opened a lot of new opportunities. However, I still mostly stayed with Windows – for the games.

I got these distros from the CDs/DVDs that came with Linux magazines. There was just no reasonable way to download multiple hundred megabytes at that time, and a blank CD-R was also expensive. Yet I always had rescue CDs handy to restore my bootloader or Windows installation.

Later I tried Ubuntu and Fedora Core on my own PC, but could not get the ISDN card to work with either of them. Imagine dual-booting with Windows to search for some instructions on the web, print them out, then boot back into Linux to try it. A tedious process.

My first contact with Linux systems was a short-lived experiment in the early 2000s with a copy of Caldera OpenLinux on some old PC in the basement. I remember KDE 2 desktop and StarOffice.

Since Linux turned 30 yesterday, I would love to hear what your first distro was. Mine was Red Hat something or other circa late 1998/early 1999. Pretty sure it was running some very beta version of GNOME, so thanks @migueldeicaza@twitter.com! What was yours?

As a user, I want 'git rebase' to rewrite commit hash references in commit messages to the hashes of the rewritten commits, so that my patch series will be consistent without manual editing.

Found it! Of course it was the photo gallery app, right next to the camera. Peace of mind found as well.

I lost an app icon on the smartphone home screen. Probably some accidental drag & drop that moved it into a folder, because there is this empty space now. I surely know that *something* was there and I used it regularly, but I can't figure out what app it was. It's mind boggling.

This struct_group() macro to access a group of members at once seems simple, yet clever. I am once again impressed what is possible within the limitations of the C language.

I complained about the Twitter Home feed and that I want Latest Tweets back, but it still did not return for me.

RT @mcclure111@twitter.com

I am seeing several indications that Twitter is legitimately, actually, doing an A/B surveillance test where they remove the "Latest Tweets" option and then *monitoring your feed to see if you complain about it*. twitter.com/doeantlers/status/

Hm, Twitter web finally lost the possibility to switch back to "latest tweets" and enforces the non-chronological view?

If you have a Brother MFC device with the brscan4 driver on Linux and you are desperately trying to scan over USB with sane, let me tell you to get rid of ipp-usb. It interferes with USB scanning and scanimage will only return an unhelpful "Invalid argument".
