@cm_kropot Do you admit people here based on your own whim and fancy? I believe you have a code of conduct and as long as people are compliant with that, you should not ban them, they have a right to free speech here.
This decision is so opaque - who are the people who "feel unsafe" just because police have a presence here? How many reports have you got? If I am uncomfortable with somebody, can you ban them too?
In any case how is banning effective? What is the intent?
Police in general and Justice system particular do not instill trust in most people. Go to a police station ever and you will know what I am talking about. It’s quite natural for people to feel unsafe in their presence. I know it’s quite a travesty that those that are supposed to protect you instill no trust, but that’s the reality. I get your point, but at these dire times I would side with the admins.
@navneetmathur @cm_kropot Banning their official account from an open network is not going to solve any of those problems in the least. They can carry on their more nefarious activities under cover if required anyway. This ban only serves to illustrate a knee jerk reaction, goes against fediverse practice where somebody is banned only for CoC violation and not on a feel or whim, goes against free speech and is opaque without any upfront policies on this. This is worse than banana republic.
