It is NOT true that #Twitter has an algorithm — but Mastodon doesn't. That is untrue.
Mastodon just has a different algorithm.

Mastodon's algorithm is — to display the posts of the people and hash-tags you follow, in the order they are posted, with newest posts being displayed first, and oldest last.
@reiver Many years ago, a recruiter approached me and asked if I was "any good at algorithms." I said that all software are algorithms, so yes, I was good at algorithms.

@reiver The difference for me is that the Mastodon algorithm doesn't try to obscure itself. People don't change their behaviour based on what the algorithm does or doesn't like.
