If anyone has advice on how to talk to people (family, friends) who appear to believe things they read in right wing papers that have no basis in fact that'd be gratefully received.

Isn't it funny that the same people who are calling us naive for believing change is possible are the ones who believe fossil fuel companies, big polluters and oil producing nations will ”fix” the climate- and ecological crisis with their vague, distant ”net zero” commitments...?

Sharing this with permission from my friend Jen, who was arrested in her home a couple of days ago. If it can happen to her, it can (and probably will) happen to any of us. Authoritarianism is happening in the UK now -- we have to call it out for what it is.

The difference in the attendance at two Stream A sessions at @NCSC tells a story about our industry. Building communities and working together = 5% capacity. Incident handler stories = 90% capacity.

Great to be here at but a small ask from a under-caffeinated delegate, can there be a 'Coffee is available/unavailable' status somewhere? Came out in the 10 minute break between sessions desperate for a beverage, apparently hit a coffee void.

I wonder if the re-release of Trump will cause another influx of new users to @Mastodon? Love to see the metrics.

10,000 retweets and we make this version of the theme song canon 🎶

Interesting to sit in a room full of people from ukgov at who when asked by David from @Shadowserver if they used his information feeds didn’t raise their hands. Pretty sure most of them use the @NCSC early warning system, which ingests shadowserver data.

The Technical Masterclass 2 "What attackers do when they get in?" from @NCCGroupInfosec was all killer no filler. Brilliant session. I think that was worth coming on it's own.

Great to be at , it's been a few years. Good to see a mix of tech and strategic content, but missing the @NCSC sociotechnical security group. It feels like we've got enough tech, but we need better process/people/culture, and not a lot of that here.

This public consultation has just 4 days left wtru.st/nature-deserves-better but only +30k people have seen it so far - nature needs the voice of millions! RT if you agree & pls sign
@WildlifeTrusts @ChrisGPackham agree

But @gracepetrie words from "The Losing Side" (about the sisterhood not climate change), puts it perfectly. "If I spend my life on the losing side, You can lay me down knowing that I tried".

With fossil fuel giants making billions in profit as the world burns and nature and people suffer, whatever you do seems futile as you watch some people vote for the status quo. 2/3

I'm definitely a cliche now. Working at home (a solar powered fossil fuel free widebeam), protecting @WildlifeTrusts from hackers so they can bring nature back, organic bread in the breadmaker, listening to @gracepetrie 1/3

First BP with £4.9 billion , now Shell with £7.3 billion profit in three months - people are shivering and struggling and these greedy climate destroying monsters are laughing all the way to the bankers . Can we wake up now ? They’re killing us . bbc.co.uk/news/business-613305
