i think i find masto a bit overwhelming bc everyone seems so cool wise & smart, meanwhile im not that good at articulating my thoughts, at least not online? never sure where the balance is between being authenic and just launching crap nobody cares about into the internet

@roadrunner I go with a 50/50 mix, not intentionally mind you. I'm just half full of crap most of the time. ;)

@roadrunner

Same fam, not a clue what I'm doing but I'm having fun!

@roadrunner i know, everybody here has lots of cool projects. i should probably just start a project but i can't think of anything really original to do.

@tomharris same! i dont code or do music & im not interested in making games haha. id like to write a book but i dont have one im workin on currently or anything! what kinda project would u do

@roadrunner dunno, write a book as well maybe? The only thing I'm definitely quite good at is pure maths (not good enough to want to do it for my job any more though). Half of the time I want to write a book incorporating that, the other half I think I should get away from that and something completely new. But I am unskilled at other things! I guess I'm afraid to do things badly?

@tomharris i know what i mean, id lov to learn am intrument or any other skill but its so hard to get past that "not bei g immediately good" hurdle, i get so impatient lol!

@roadrunner yeah, really regretting not putting more time in to learn things as a child. there's loads more time then, because you don't have a job, and if a kid sucks at something it's fine. 28 year old me getting 'good king wenceslas' wrong on a piano is just sad.

@tomharris yeah, i always quit everything i picked up as a kid withinin a few weeks. this was probably partially adhd tho? and i dint really have "pushy" parents, haha!

i figure its not good to dwell on what could hav been too much tho, we're still cool ppl regardless and its never 2 late to learn

@roadrunner I've always subscribed to the view "It's what a person says that's important, not how they say it."

My email footer says:
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

@roadrunner You don't have to post anything if you don't feel like it. But you shouldn't keep silent, either, if you think that what you have to say is important or of interest to anyone else. That's my personal rule. I know it is not very helpful, but there's really nothing else to it.

@josemanuel lol i always feel like posting but i dont feel like much of what i say is of interest to people?? so kinda the reverse problem i guess

@roadrunner If you feel like posting something, do it.

Before you were born, there was a movie called Field of Dreams, where they said: “If you build it, they will come.” Same principle applies here: If you say it, somebody will think: “Hey, that's cool.”

Go ahead. Try it and see.

@roadrunner I think they great thing about being here so far is just the ability to do your own thing. It doesn't have to be about aspiring for greater things (and there DOES seem to be plenty of those folks on here), it's just about being who you are, and that's ok!

Do what makes you happy, and the rest will come together!
