DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ADSENSE EMPIRE

Question: Is the general decline of the news media on the Internet a symptom of on-line advertising's "cheapness" where it requires millions of page-views to earn any significant revenue from Google AdSense?

After all, if you have to hook people into your site with triggers and outrage measured precisely with A|B testing to get them to come, the quality of your content _must_ decline.

Disclaimer: I make money from AdSense.

@Guide42XYZ I think it has a lot to do with it, but it may be a symptom more than a cause. The thing that created the AdSense economy was a loss of money for journalism to online content. News outlets had to fight for eyeballs and gain money. Writing shitty clickbait articles gathered more clicks, led to more ad views.

Vicious cycle.
