I mean, if an EU citizen’s initiative to tax the rich cannot get a paltry 1 million signatures (less than one quarter of one percent of the population), I guess we really must deserve this bullshit system.

You still have five days, sign this ffs:

@aral it errors after authenticating in my browser. That doesn’t help 😅

How can we get that to the attention of the voting website?

@ronnie_bonkers The least I could do is, after filling in the manual form, leave a "poor" rating with a comment about the eID stuff being broken.

I found an email address here:
citizens-initiative.europa.eu/

And perhaps pinging the EU commision on Mastodon helps. Hey, @EUCommission: The European Citizen's Initiative voting website is broken.

eID implementations are notorious. Luckily @EUCommission also support a 'Fill in the form' option. That works just fine. Please don't tell me you bailed on this initiative just because of a silly bug with an easy workaround!

If you did, back to tax-the-rich.eu/ with you!

@iwein I did sign the manual form, that is where you can rate the process.

I run Linux for decades, manual workarounds to make things work are no strangers to me. 😄

@hvangalen all good then 🥳 ...except for eID of course 🤦‍♀️

@iwein @hvangalen @ronnie_bonkers @EUCommission @aral That's what I eventually used: the form option. Pity it has to be like that. The simplest and most low friction option (eID, or DigiD in this particular case: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigiD) not being available will definitely affect the results.

@ronnie_bonkers @aral I use SMS authentication for DigID, which isn't even accepted for this site. So they're blocking me from actually logging in.

I just chose to fill out the form instead. Worked like a charm.
