@gargron I just saw this on joinmastodon.org: «Without an incentive to sell you things, Mastodon allows you to consume content you enjoy uninterrupted.» I wondered whether we can change “consume content you enjoy” to something more human like “read posts you enjoy”. Or “see the things you enjoy: posts, pictures, videos, comments, it’s all there.”

@eladhen @gargron I don't know. "Content" sounds like the filler I get in bad newspaper. It's the soulless stuff written not because you care but because you must. I really don't like the word content.

@kensanata @eladhen @Gargron Reminds me if the intro to Cory Doctorow's book "Content". '"Content," huh? Ha! Where's the container?'.

I'm fairly convinced that 'content' is what the media industries call the work of artists, perhaps because they think of the masses as consumers of it. I 100% agree that neither notion captures the independent spirit that's drawn me to Mastodon.
