WTF, the estimates on 's power usage and environmental impact isn't credible? This article has forced me to reexamine some of my assumptions.

There's was a discussion on that article at Hacker News [ news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1 ].

I should say I have never used bitcoin or run a bitcoin miner.

@sohkamyung The Bitcoin Network is no doubt using incredible amounts of power, but most of the electricity is from renewable sources that has a huge surplus of power, not from coal, as has been frequently reported.

I used to own bitcoin but exchanged everything for IOTA, which only requires miniscule amounts of power in comparison.
