@fyeahnix Best two pieces of advice I can give you:
1) Pay an attorney to come up with an MSA (master services agreement). It'll go over things like who owns the IP, what happens when non-payment is made, etc. It's worth the $$$, I promise.
2) Get insurance. This is particularly important when dealing with medium sized litigious companies who think they can bully freelancers.
It sounds intimidating, but having those two pieces lets you relax, and consequently become more confident.
