Public Service Announcement: Composer is a piece of steaming crap and nobody should be using it ever.

So is GitHub.

Thank you for your attention.

@rysiek

Sorry but did you say that about composer ?

Is this about the ram consumption ?

@cafou that's one part of that:

PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 1610612736 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4096 bytes) in phar:///usr/local/bin/composer/src/Composer/DependencyResolver/RuleSetGenerator.php on line 12

Mind you, that's 1.5GiB of RAM. Just to install some dependencies.

@rysiek

OMG ! This is another on what's wrong with "modern" framework .

An nothing in issue section : github.com/composer/composer/i

Probably sould open one .

@mig5 well, containers seem to work quite ok for us, actually.

@rysiek yep, from what I’ve seen, it’s something about me

@mig5 containers are often counter-intuitive and there is a bunch of weird things happening. Problems with docker I see most often are usually related to:

- layering of directories (i.e. if there is a directory in the image and then a bind-mount at runtime on the same directory, original contents from the image are missing, since it's an overlay)

- buildtime vs. runtime

- host envvars vs. build args vs. container envvars

@rysiek I'm getting a 500 error on that link.
