So I know Apple Watch doesn’t officially support being worn on an ankle but honestly it works great for me. I can’t have it on my wrist while doing aerial for obvious reasons, but (in most cases) my ankle is better. Fun to see the data! My heart rate is generally really low while stretching and between runs and then goes up to around 170-180 when working on the rope.

@s0mmer You’re out here living in 3023

@s0mmer need a radar for a new workout category

@steve Hahaha I've def thought about filing it. I always use "play" since the person is hanging from a bar which COULD be a trapeze... Wearing the watch on the ankle could be viewed from an accessibility standpoint as a cool thing to support as well... ok maybe I will file it :-)

@s0mmer Intriguing. Are the measurements comprable to you wearing the watch on your rist?

@ppatel I cannot train aerial with it on my wrist, so it's tough to compare, but it's certainly similar to when I've done other types of workouts that have similar energy lulls and bursts, yes!

@s0mmer Thank you for that confirmation. The reason why I ask is because several people with physical disabilities have asked me if wearing an Apple Watch on their ankle could be a reasonable alternative. I've been meaning to test it but don't have bands that are large enough to fit my ankles.

@s0mmer I've been ankle-wearing for treadmill desk reasons and it's worked out great. Cool to see other applications for the use case. HR info has been fairly consistent for me between ankle & wrist, too, so I like that I can generally trust the data.

@s0mmer Nice! I did a bunch of testing of this a while back and found it was often actually more accurate when worn on the ankle than the wrist unless you are doing an activity with minimal wrist movement. Second only to wearing it on the forearm.

@s0mmer This is a great tip for situations where you want to wear a mechanical watch - perhaps to a fancy dinner - but at the same time want to complete your rings!

@finestructure @s0mmer also a really handy tip for someone like me who would prefer a reliable mechanical with timers while flying.

@s0mmer I’m doing that whenever I walk on my treadmill while working on my standing desk. Obviously can’t swing my arms when programming, so I strap it to my ankle. Works great.

@s0mmer Can confirm it works surprisingly well. I use an under the desk treadmill for my wfh setup and the Apple Watch doesn’t record steps accurately if I wear it on my wrist. I’ve started wearing it on my ankle now and the steps number now closely matches what the treadmill shows.
I do turn haptics off when I do this though; having your ankle get buzzed is really disconcerting while walking on a treadmill.

@s0mmer I could envision a really cool Apple watch commercial with you and @_Davidsmith with 2 or 3 watches. Maybe with Steve Jobs voice overdub.
