Popped in to Elizabeth Fort in #cork. Interesting structure overlooking the city centre with great views and good stories. Photos show the redan, the tall stone triangular section of the fort overlloking the city, the third one is St Finbarrs Cathedral seen through a stone window.
All isn't well with the world of course but that's wishful thinking. pity
Happy summer solstice/midsummer/thusday/whatever you call it. Afaik it can be a different days in other cultures so I may be out by a day or two.
Anyway:
It's the longest day of the year,
it is beautifully sunny and not too hot yet,
I am feeling great
and all is well with the world
ok, so now I understand why I haven't slept for two nights.
...I'm sick! and my temperature is too high rn. and its hot inside and outside.
i'm outta here for a while.
@kensanata I have also checked out the In Our Time podcasts, looks interesting. I know you were looking for recommendations rather than recommending them but cheers anyway.
the #citizensassembly was criticised by many at the time as offering an opportunity for politicians to kick difficult choices out into the long grass.
But it has proved very successful at bringing forward policies that have a broad consensus behind them - based on deliberation and evidence.
Very proud of this achievement - and hope that we will get plenty more progressive reforms to our constitution in the coming years. ๐ #Ireland
A small piece of the Grand Parade in #cork city.

Not into unicorns really myself but I tried this #crochet one for a friend. Pity I'd forgotten to put safety eyes on before I closed it all up, the buttons are ok but it looks a but more menacing with them I think.
Sick of waiting for my landlord to do it so I fixed the blind in my window (attic bedroom) and now my room is so dark and cool that I've stopped waking at 4am. Like, that is all it took -cool darkness. Only issue now is I want to stay in bed a lot longer.
I feel this proper sleep will actually help everything. Already I've been able to be more productive all week and I'm always less emotional when I've slept well so woohoo.
Today was a scorcher. I was working outside all day and it made me realise that the only time I'm grumpy is when I'm working in direct sunny weather.
Doesn't happen much here
Now that we've passed the referendum, by a landslide no less, I will stop talking about it. I've waited two decades to vote on this and can't quite believe it has happened. I just wish it was easy to explain how I'm feeling but it's too long and too much effort and who cares anyway, it's done now.
I've never loved democracy more than I do today.
Ireland has voted to repeal the Eighth Amendment with 39 out of 40 constituencies voting YES.

This has been the longest day. I'm afraid to believe the exit poll and yet I'm confident that we voted to repeal the hateful eight amendment. I'm so tired right now
BREAKING: Irish Times #Referendum2018 exit poll projects landslide vote to repeal Eighth Amendment
Thoughts today with our friends in #Ireland who have had to go through another vicious referendum battle to obtain basic rights over their bodies and lives. Good luck to all. ๐ฎ๐ช
