I'm so excited: I think my new WordPress plugin now fully implements the Feed Paging and Archiving standard! (Context above in this thread.) It may have bugs still but it seems to work. 🎉
I'm looking for review and feedback from WordPress and PHP developers:
"I like your idea. I think it’s a good idea. The community has needs, you want to fill those needs, and that’s good shit. I need for you to succeed, and that’s why I want you to scale that shit back.” This is the beginning of some excellent advice by @linkskywalker from elsewhere which I copied into a blog post for future reference. For my future self. https://alexschroeder.ch/wiki/2018-06-29_A_Project_For_One

Someone found two cardboard boxes full of color slides from the summer of 1978, shot in New York City.
I miss shooting film. I have three rolls of long-expired Velvia in the refrigerator... maybe I will shoot some this summer.

Here's the cover I designed over the weekend for an eBook I'm writing called "How to Write a Book About Your Pet."
Another update on RSS improvements for webcomics, fanfiction, and the like:
I wrote a WordPress plugin! I had no idea how to do that but within a few hours today I had a mostly-working implementation of the RFC5005 standard.
If you're a bleeding-edge early adopter, and you have a WordPress site, and you want to help me test this plugin, it's here:
I also documented it pretty well, I think, if you want to study it and see how to implement RFC5005 in other CMSes.
In my blog post about Emacs keybindings http://www.wilfred.me.uk/blog/2018/01/06/the-emacs-guru-guide-to-key-bindings/ I mention the 'Emacs Guru Test'.
It's a cute way of seeing how well you know Emacs, so I'm pleased to have shared it. I didn't invent it though. My googling has totally failed to find the original author.
Update on making RSS better for long-form work like webcomics and serial stories! (See this thread for background.)
Based on nice feedback from a WordPress core contributor, I think I understand how to add RFC5005 support as a WordPress plugin.
Does anybody want to build that plugin with me? It should be mostly straightforward but I haven't programmed in PHP for about two decades and I'm intimidated.
If you are interested in #Prolog or want to learn a logic #programming language, SWI-Prolog started a course 2 weeks ago. It was shared mostly on and it would be unfortunate if people missed it just because of that. Late enrollment will be closing on June 22. Link: https://twitter.com/SWI_Prolog
Change my mind, Jordan Peterson Show more
I was curious about why Jordan Peterson seems to be such a controversial character, so I listened to the audio version of his book, "12 Rules for Life", read by the author himself. Give me an award?
Quick rundown: (1) to me the book didn't sound as objectionable as I was led to believe; (2) still, there's way too much piety and Biblicism for me; (3) the genre of Jordan Peterson takedowns that I've read so far are about as boring as the book itself.
