Apparently the secret to winning with fairly difficult heroes in #Dota2 is to get hard carried by people who feel like they're smurfing. Won a game as Silencer and another as Visage thanks to a Storm Spirit and a Luna who both got ridiculously far ahead and kept us on target.

In far better news, having peppermint essential oil in a diffuser while sipping black tea has been an interesting experience due to the way smell influences taste. It's making the tea feel particularly refreshing.

So to hell with compromise. I want Democrats who don't hesitate to flip off and cuss out Republicans for being the fascist sacks of sapient trash they are, I think we're better off for it, because "compromise" is just going to result in a continuing slide to the right until the very concept of civil rights as we enjoy them today is a distant memory save for the small handful of people fortunate enough to flee the country and get asylum elsewhere.

Told the person who complained about a democrat being "unprofessional" to Trump exactly why I think his concerns can go fuck off. In short: "civility" is dead and we need more left-leaning people who are willing to be just as forceful when it comes to making changes happen.

If we keep getting Democrats who are too interested in "compromise" to make actual change happen, I don't think the US survives in its present form much past the 2020 elections if we even get that far.

Sorry, but you don't get to complain about "professional" behavior given the racist asshat who seized power with the help of a foreign government.

You especially don't get to complain if you literally never talk to me except to complain about my posts of far-left political content. If you don't like it, why do you even read what I post?

Out of curiosity, yesterday I looked up how men's and women's clothing sizes compare in case I ever get up the nerve to actually shop for such things. This was in a private window, on DuckDuckGo, with scripts and other third-party content heavily filtered.

Somehow half of my "recommended for you" section on Amazon today is women's clothing.

Not sure if this is a creepy coincidence or if it's just become impossible to avoid information leaking like that.

Apparently there's a massive network outage right now affecting most internal services. Almost everything is down. It seems like a DNS issue.

But at least this means my fuckup from earlier pales in comparison

I introduced a code change yesterday that had a logical defect: It breaks with an error when there's not a new file, it runs daily, but on average we get a new file once a month. Thus, lack of a new file shouldn't be a failure condition. Oops.

However, due to the obvious error, I also discovered that the previous line of code - which I didn't change - also isn't working correctly and needed a fix. So by inadvertently introducing a more obvious bug I unmasked a subtle one.

Did a genetic testing thing since I was adopted and it turns out I am *extremely* white.

Though it is mildly amusing that I've always enjoyed English breakfast tea and, from this breakdown, there's a reasonable chance that one of my biological parents was a first-generation emigrant from the UK.

Oh, now it turns out the person who said he was going to do a thing that will take 45 minutes didn't even start it and won't until he's out of a meeting.

This means that when he does finish it, it'll be nearly 2:30, leaving me less than three hours to check the 150 or so changes and hope nothing went wrong.

The sooner the entire department responsible for this stuff gets fired and replaced, the better.

I feel like it's taking all the willpower I can manage to not just have a breakdown at my desk right now.

Two things "broke" this morning and I had to fix them even though they're not my responsibility.

I have been informed of a mandatory after hours meeting tomorrow that will mostly consist of damaging the already low morale here.

I'm having to work "with" someone who is making unreasonably small steps and is making me manually check everything he does do.

I don't want to be here.

Trying to decide what I want to do with a quiet Tuesday evening is hard.

Getting a steroid shot in my left hand was thoroughly unpleasant but it seems to have fixed the mobility issues I was having. It's nice having the full range of motion in that hand again.

Apparently the technical lead is badly misinterpreting or utterly failing to communicate changes mandated by a security team who can't keep their story straight when challenged to explain what exactly is the problem we're being told to solve.

Somehow this becomes my problem because the guy who allegedly has 20 years experience has no idea what he's doing and I'm stuck trying to explain things to him that someone with a tenth his experience should know in his sleep.
