For the folks who are asking if I'm coming here full-time: Probably not, or at least not immediately, but I will try to update more often than I have. I try not to replicate posts on differing social media too often, so that's a bit of a limiter, timewise. But we're in weird times, so: Who knows? Anyway, here's another cat picture.
@scalzi Huzzah for cat pictures!
@scalzi If your sole contribution to my home feed here is cat pictures, it was a worthy follow
@scalzi I really appreciate that whatever service I'm following you on, I can rely on you for top-quality cat content.
@scalzi I followed you here from your blog. Never did Twitter. This seems a bit more sane. Maybe that will last. I doubt I'll use it too much either, but it's nice to have alternatives. Musk owning the basket a big chunk of the country has all their eggs in is scary,
@scalzi I thought this was Jorts for a second
@scalzi This is great! Who drew it?
@scalzi I'm checking the official Android app and it feels like Twitter without ads or a revenue focus. What's missing is all my favorite writers. You're here, but I don't know who else is. Are you following anyone who you'd like to suggest us to follow? I think Mastodon also needs a good verification feature that doesn't need a lot of tech knowledge, but since it's user-driven and not profit-driven, maybe they might make a feature that works. RN maybe moderation can stop impostor issues.
@scalzi The number of users is still very small compared to Twitter right now. So it's understandable that, at this moment, this might not be a full time replacement. I think the idea of having decentralized social media is kind of neat though. It's technically not a profit machine for any entity.
@shouborno @scalzi @chuckwendig is here!
@scalzi Hope you're having a good day. I think Crossposter (https://crossposter.masto.donte.com.br/) might be a very helpful tool for you right now! It basically mirrors Twitter posts, retweets, etc. on Mastodon. And if you don't want something to be on Mastodon, you can always manually delete it. @scalzi I'd say just go ahead and mirror. Many/most people coming to Mastodon are Twitter refugees. If your Twitter stuff duplicates here it makes it easier to stay away from there.
@scalzi c'mon make the switch, give the bird the bird.
@scalzi Glad to find you here - and I hope that you continue to pick up many new followers/admirers who like myself have avoided twitter all along and so were beyond your reach until now.
