@cwebber It sounds like they're heading to a situation where you could only sign into a Google account with Chrome or Firefox, with javascript enabled and no proxying (which would rule out things like Tor browser).

I've been degoogling for a decade, and YouTube is the only thing of theirs which I still use with any regularity. The more they try to become Microsoft the more incentive there will be to use other things.

Um um um um ummmmm... is this what it sounds like? Google is blocking browsers it doesn't "approve" of... apparently just letting in Firefox and Chrome? developers.googleblog.com/2020

The web as an open standards platform is rapidly falling apart. :\

disney, copyright

I'm increasingly convinced that Disney is one of the companies that has done most harm in the world. Their harm is not economic or ecological, as in most cases, but cultural. Whenever Mickey Mouse would run out of copyright, they use their considerable power to make sure copyright terms are extended in the US – and because of US power, elsewhere in the world. This has robbed us a hundred years of culture that should be in public domain but instead is inaccessible and forgotten.

How nice of #YouTube to tell creators they don't have enough views to monetize, but then run ads on their videos without giving them any ad revenue. I remember when #Google had a motto of not being evil. Maybe creators should give #PeerTube a try.

Pro-tip from a medical worker I've seen:

"If you’re having a hard time with glasses fogging or keeping your mask up over your nose, a simple bandaid does wonders. Learned it in the OR."

why is it called Kdenlive if it's for editing recorded videos!?

After the Five Eyes, the EU Council is now trying to backdoor encryption in messaging apps. We will keep fighting for your right to privacy. 💪 Here is why: tutanota.com/blog/posts/eu-bac
It's good that the MIT uses the same arguments: dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/9

is our everyday go-to for spreadsheets and documents. Why use products from invading big tech companies, when there is a legit alternative with a rapid development cycle?

Better yet, you can be part of the change to smaller tech:
