@Gargron Hi Eugen. Like hundreds of thousands people, I've discovered and joined the Fediverse via Mastodon in the past weeks.
I do love how you share openly and transparently re: the development of the software behind it.
And I'd love at some point to read you with same transparency and openness on the community concerns raised e.g. here: icosahedron.website/users/u276
What are your plans, or current ideas and gut feelings at least, for scaling governance too?

@shalf - given that every instance controls, to no small extent, it's own community standards and attitudes, why does it matter that 'mastodon' isn't as kink-oriented as it was when you joined? Is this not becoming a vast sea with like-minded users gathering on their own islands? I've half a mind to start my own because this is awesome.

I ask honestly, because I was not able to understand from your post, exactly what you've lost when mastodon is making so many new users happy.

@NFG Actually, I am not a member of the queer community, and just joined 2-3 weeks ago. The fact that those long-term community members (both developers and users communities) raise concerns now is important to me. I have a passion for community history, and their consequences on their present and future. Important questions for a newbie on Mastodon, pondering his long term involvement. Lost happiness by early adopters is important for future happiness of the new ones, in my opinion.

@NFG Those islands happen to be on the same sea (the software), to use your own metaphor. They are an ecosystem. Question now appears to be for some long term users/co-builders: how should we build together a healthy governance for the long run?
