The last number feels curiously out of sync with the first two. But more disturbing is that my mastodon.social engagements have plummeted in the last 2 months. I have relied on it for the most interesting discussions, but the opportunities for them seem to be tapering off. Are there fewer users, does my breath smell, or is there just less interest? I can’t tell yet, but I want to rekindle them, if that’s possible. I need them to stay sane.

@shoq I don’t know if I matter in your scheme of things, but I have taken an extended break since the election, from all so ial media and from the internet in general. I haven’t been able to face yet another unprecedented outrage. I just ran out of that ability

@shoq I have not seen many of your posts here recently. Maybe I followed too many other accounts and I simply didn’t see them in my timeline. I am also seeing more bridged posts from Bluesky and Threads in the last few months. I have not tried to understand what determines what posts are bridged.

@shoq I think the election demoralized (and maybe even scared) a lot of people.

@shoq I rarely interact here, as it’s my main info source for news and intelligent discussions among other people. My biggest activity is to boost, possibly because I’m more introverted than social, but even though I’m quiet I’m here lurking and learning.

@shoq I’m here lurking, reading, and boosting your posts, but I’m still shell-shocked from election results.

@shoq Maybe it's a combo of shell-shock from the election & a short holiday season. Not sure how it will all settle out in the new year. Maybe after the cert. next week & the inauguration later it'll pick back up. I think a lot are in a wait-and-see mode & are disengaged until after the inauguration and we're faced with the cold hard reality of what's in front of us. And I've yet to see good concrete examples of how we're going to fight in new ways, as obviously the old ones don't work anymore.
