The file size limits here are a bit anaemic. Especially for video, with no server side compression option. Posting to third party sites is very.. 2010 Twitter?

I see some of that is due to the federation structure, but are there any modified instances that allow larger files? Has gamedev.place upped it for example?

@simoroth gamedev.place apparently has a 40MB size limit on videos. I don't know how that compares, but hope the information is helpful!

@incobalt Ahh. It's only 8mb here. Which isn't much video even at 720p!

@simoroth I suspect mastodon.gamedev.place uses the default limit, too (Aras is using some Mastodon hosting service to run it).

The intended way is probably to publish larger videos on peertube where instance maintainers can anticipate the increased disk space requirements, but I'm new here, too.
