i definitely recall at some point seeing people on twitter say that the reason they couldn't start using mastodon was because everyone they saw on it was too nice or earnest or something. but i cannot overstate how okay i am with ~niceness~ being an entry barrier. like, you can still shitpost and have opinions and... also be kind and decent
plus i'm sure there's at least one instance where the social norm is ironyposting and subtooting so 🤷♂️
>Corporate Brand Account joins m.s and asks for help
>i point them to @noelle 's guide
>which has a specific section about why Corporate Brand Accounts need to be careful
I'm feeling really good today, fediverse, how about you?

Two of any number of possibilities:
* Thematic instances (sadposts on sad.town! lewdposting at lewd.space! etc)
* Personal instances (instance on personal domain with one account per post type or intended audience)
I just remembered A Casual Vacancy (the JK Rowling book), where SQL injection (and assumed plaintext offender status) is a plot point.
Being into infosec, in my first readthrough the website was described such that I imagined that it'd probably be vulnerable to most of the OWASP Top 10; imagine my surprise upon revelations that it was, and that it being pwned several times (and a damning pentest report ignored for political reasons!) caused plot advancement.
The ending made me cry though :(
today is my birthday and my birthday request is that people doodle me something cute, send me a picture, and tag it #doodles4nat
I’ve been on Twitter since 2007. I’ve seen fail whales, competitors, alienation of app developers, and any number of things that could have killed it, but Twitter always survived.
This is the first time it feels like the beginning of the end of Twitter. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/10/technology/twitter-free-speech-infowars.html
