I wrote a thing about why I believe the best and most useful decentralized applications are going to be the ones that utilize multiple protocols. I imagine a world where ActivityPub, Dat, and Secure ScuttleButt are all seen as tools in a toolbox rather than as ecosystems, and what kind of amazing software we could build with them outside of the central/corporate paradigm.

@darius I like this a lot! I still worry that peer-to-peer/federated/otherwise decentralized systems don't have good enough paradigms (or we haven't figured them out yet) to deal with "bad behavior". And maybe (probably!) that's mostly a problem of shifting social norms rather than building rules into software, but the software still has to support mechanisms by which the social norms can be enforced by admins or collectively by users.
