apparently you can follow people on other mastodon instances, which may turn out to be somewhat awkward when one of these goes down
I kind of hope that everyone using this thing down the line is clear on the fact that there are gonna be multiple mastodon sites that just look the same because earlier I spent like 5 minutes trying to remember my login/password until I realized that I was trying to log in to the wrong thing
also I hope this isn't a common mistake to make because it might be exploited by phishers and what-not
anyway I thought I was just throwing my posts out into the void but forgot there's a whole thing that displays every post on the site so I guess that's another thing to get used to
@sonotoridesu You do have options to restrict visibility on any given post.

@sonotoridesu At first it's like that in any federated system. But once you grasp the idea or how it works, it becomes automatic to chek the URL. :)
Don't worry, many of us in the fediverse have been there. I still make mistakes, then oops, wrong site!
@yahananxie I mean it's pretty internet 101 but just taken aback that there are just a bunch of these sites that all lead to the same thing
@sonotoridesu Hehe, yep, which all looks the same! Sad thing with federation software, not much theme designers, to at least help differentiate.
also I just tried to make multiple threaded smaller posts when in fact I could just make one large post because that's what twitter conditioned me to do
is this what being a japanese twitter user is like just being able to express complete thoughts in just one post like this all the time
