I want to switch a spare notebook over to Linux to try it out Linux. And it seems like Ubuntu is usually considered the more user friendly/baby's first Linux family of distros. And since it's a notebook, only two gigs of ram and all that, I figure it's best to try to find a lightweight variant of Ubuntu. And Lubuntu seems to fit that bill, but it apparently uses the LDXE desktop instead of the Unity/Gnome one. I'm wondering if that's actually a big deal or not. Like if the change in desktop won't make it easy to use for a first timer or not. But yeah, is LDXE/Lubuntu beginner friendly?
