The netbooks I have are a similar specification - Atom processor and 2GB RAM - and are about 9 years old. They will still run modern distros, and Debian runs very well on them, including Emacs.

Mostly I use them for mesh testing but I also recently used one of them for flashing the LibreCMC wifi router.

The term "netbook" seems to have gone out of fashion, but small laptops like this have been around for the last ten years.

In a sense, it is as if my dissertation never happened. I just formally submitted the final copy to RPI. It's done. Forever. At least in dissertation form. It is all behind me. Now is the time to look forward.

Anyone looking to hire a freshly minted Ph.D.?

Currently my Router on steroids:

* Sends outbound mail through a smarthost
* Routes traffic (not installed at modem yet though)
* NTP Network server
* Sensor monitoring with sensorsd
* Daily update checks

Next up is setting up the switching for a new network infrastructure, and to dynamically hotplug connections into different networks depending on what's plugged in and auth received.

@bcallah @hir0 is there a way I can sign up to get more info when it's ready?

@hhardy01 so i can connect but the server needs starttls before it'll allow auth. When i get back i'll try cranking up logging.

@hhardy01 i altered it for privacy reasons. The mail server wants starttls before auth.

@stevelord @bcallah did a workshop of this style at NYCBUG earlier this year. The feedback seemed great and would be brilliant to have something in the UK along the same vein

@hir0 @bcallah yeah i think we can do something on the community night at and have some talks and workshops on the main days.

I'm thinking more a series of workshop sessions on how to build, fix and submit ports and guided fixes for newbies. Maybe a donation drive too.

Anyone interested in an hackathon next year focused on bringing new people to openbsd hacking?

@nico is providing and getting in bed with a platform for corporate psyops at SCL/Cambridge Analytica an fb value?

@steckerhalter @Trev should be possible to enable/disable on a per instance basis. Having a popular functionality doesn't mean you have to use it.

@Trev quote boosts is feature that most people would use to make the a better and more interesting place. people can harass each other just as well without quote boosts.

@hhardy01 i'm sending from user@wally.lan to steve@<myexternaldomain.com> via <account>@<myexternaldomain.com>

@hhardy01 I only care about sending, it's just for alerts. This is a router.

@stevelord Post log of attempted delivery?

Are you using smart_host?

Post MX records?

Or pm me with the info.
