I would love to say that it did not create a sense of social isolation when I was at university but it absolutely did.
Thankfully I had the folks over on IRC and EntropyNet so it wasn't so bad. :)
I manage okay without it but for some folks it might be more difficult to disconnect so be considerate when asking folks to disconnect cold turkey from their social network.
Been working on 44COIN this afternoon (thats coin, not con). Finally got the basic hardware functionality working which puts me ahead for the month. Next I need to get a PCB drawn up and off to the fab while I add the extra functionality in preparation for the airdrop and ICO at 44CON

@saper It's not great, but the history between Mastodon and the older platforms within the fediverse is rocky at best.
It's a complex yarn, with the older platforms getting the overall impression that the new blood was basically cashing in on a space that a bunch of other people built. There's also something of an ideological split between communities, which also makes things prickly sometimes.
Pleroma is great though, and the people developing it are for the most part very friendly.
I can't wait for that exciting new era where #Pleroma gets coverage by news outlets and everyone says that Lain invented "The Pleroma Network", even though it's just the fediverse.
