The caveat of making free and open source software on Android is that if your application is good, there is someone who's going to take the code, change the branding, add advertisements to it and profit off of it. It happens literally everytime and Google is barely doing anything about this.
So yeah I understand why most Android devs are reluctant to release their code
@Siphonay same thing happens on YouTube. People repost other people's content, and make a ton off ad revenue.
