Alternatively: Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro will be available on Apple’s XR headset on day one
@stroughtonsmith I'd be really surprised if they put these on the bare metal of the headset. I feel like if the headset supports them, it'd only be in companion with a Mac or iPad.
@solarboi headset has an M1 and runs iPad apps as-is, and M1 is the system requirement for the new Pro apps
@stroughtonsmith oh I know the hardware capability is there, but it feels supremely like a thing Apple wouldn't do. They've been so stingy with their pro app shit on devices with different input mechanisms, that it seems unbelievable.
@stroughtonsmith like we all know they could have made Final Cut Pro for iPads previous to the M1, with some limitations. Hardware has been there for a long time. Feels like it'd be a Herculean effort for them to do input design for both iPad and headset for release within 6 months of each other.
@stroughtonsmith this is the only thing so far to square the strange timing. Years late for iPad. A month before wwdc for an iPad turn around announcement. Feels like strange timing for something that was assumed to be a big deal before we all gave up waiting.
They would have never given this away in a press statement hadn’t it been for the headset, in my opinion.
@stroughtonsmith All about the storytelling - they needed the narrative and for it to be at the forefront of mind. Creating the buzz now, means they can carry it over in June to the headset.
@stroughtonsmith Would be great to see a world where the headset is what Stage Manger was meant to be, kind of. Where headset pairs with iPad or Mac to create a huge canvas in an AR space in pro apps. That could be hugely amazing for video editors and audio engineers and possibly a true game changer.
