Unfortunately, someone from Russia (Alexey Knyazev) is selling my art as wooden puzzles. First, he sold my Wakeful Wolf without my consent.
I told him to stop selling my art and reported this illegal product everywhere I could. Today I saw that he started selling two other artworks of mine as a puzzle under a different company name.
Please don't purchase any puzzles from "woddopuzzles".
https://instagram.com/woddopuzzles/ or "Alexey Art".
@sylvia_ritter I'm sorry someone is stealing your work to profit from it. That's really crappy. Do you sell your art? I'm in love with the octopus.
@LunaDragofelis So true. Even then I like to choose with whom I'm working with. I don't like to do business with people who steal art.
@alerich Well, you have to do all the work. Yesterday I spent a lot of time with reporting these illegal products. (FB, Instagram, website, VK, etc.)
@khaosgrille I'm working with a lawyer. Copyright is not yet defended in every country equally. The future will hopefully make things easier for artists.
@sylvia_ritter Invoice him. That profit is yours, and the easiest way to get it is to send an invoice.
@lilletale It is my profit but I also don't want him to produce products with my art. I'm having my own jigsaw puzzle business. He should pay for damages. I don't do business with people who steal my art.
copyright law in Russia, unless you have friends in government, is a joke. It is sad that your work got stolen and you weren't given due, but such is life.
@yoshir This will change someday. It is important to raise awareness while artists rights get more protection.
@zzz I did report it to Instagram, FB, their hosting provider, Vk and other selling platforms. It's pretty time consuming.
@sylvia_ritter dang you hate to see it, I also reported on Instagram, hope it helps. this is why I never post high res art online without a watermark
@pizza Thank you for your support. The Wakeful Wolf artwork had a watermark and as you can see it didn't help. I also started to compress my files. This way they will not look good when printed.
You can report it on instagram as a copyright/IP violation.
@sylvia_ritter I imagine must be a pain. Ppl behaves just plain hideous in order to get money without effort. Plain theft.
@sylvia_ritter looks like he's chickened out and dropped all the your content. I only see red panda (or, is it your too?) and some "houses" there...
Anyway, I know some good copyright lawyers here, in Russia, although I can't say anything about their prices...
@mva The red panda isn't mine. Let us hope he will stop adding my other artworks.
Good to know. These lawyers would need to work on a success/percentage basis.
@sylvia_ritter btw, I hope that this incident won't stop you from further creative and publication of your works :)
@mva It definitely won't stop me. Unfortunately it has an impact on not releasing artworks in wallpaper size.
@sylvia_ritter well, actually, I think if somebody else wold steal artwork again, they will have no problems to physically enlarge image using optics. So, I doubt that non-releasing wallpapers would have any effect on that (while it will definitelly have on respectable users).
I personally would wait the moment of the great success of sales (of stolen content), and then hired copyright lawyaers to sue them for most of their profits :-D
@mva That's why there is no need to release a 1920px image. They will upscale it without your consent anyway. Small compressed files are the best protection you currently can get. That said the original will always have better quality.
Often the lawyer gets the most of it. Maybe I should change my profession. ;)
