18, cont: It's impossible to make ANYTHING 100% safe, because random chance simply can't be dismissed.

I won't say we should get rid of the ones we have, but instead of building new ones, we need to pivot to safer forms of clean energy in the long term.

18. Nuclear Power: It would be a good stopgap for the transition between fossil fuel-powered plants and renewable energy. I would love to say this... but when things go wrong at a nuclear plant, they go REALLY wrong and inflict MASSIVE damage to the areas they're in.

16, cont: They should all see regulation by publicly chosen authorities. They shouldn't be able to hide their society-shaping algorithms behind things such as calling them trade secrets.

And FB in particular is WAY too large. Every acquisition they've made must be spun off.

16, cont: These effective monopolies allow them to shape public opinion and discourse, and there's no transparency involved, no accountability in any shape or form. The sheer size of FB's user base makes propaganda attacks which game the system EXTREMELY effective.

16. Breaking Up Social Media Monopolies: YES.

13, cont: Time to cut bait, not hair. Damned autocorrect.

13. The Drug War: It's been a failure, only successful at ruining vulnerable lives and enriching cartels. Time to cut hair. Legalize pot, and no more jail time for users of harder drugs - send them to get clean instead. Treat it as a public health issue, not a criminal one.

12. Net Neutrality: It should be restored. No paid fast lanes. It's stifling independent content.

11, cont: ...And when I say "explore," I mean "just explore, not colonize, and definitely not colonize places that already have sapient/sentient life living there!"

11. Space travel: The scientific leaps made during the space race helped fuel so many of the technological advancements of the late 20th Century. We're still riding that wave.

We should be devoting more resources toward it. There's a whole universe out there to explore.
