Lots of apps have been adding brand colors, so we're getting closer to being able to launch featured banners on Flathub!
If you haven't done it yet for your app, here are the docs: https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-app-authors/metainfo-guidelines/quality-guidelines/#brand-colors
And here's a fancy new previewer for trying out colors: https://docs.flathub.org/banner-preview
@tbernard Sick! Is this available anywhere other than the stable deployment?
@tbernard looks awesome!
@tbernard Can't wait!! This is going to be great
@tbernard
Is there any way to install these beautiful adwaita apps on android?
@tbernard I think now we need light and dark theme screenshots of the app. ^^'
@thejackimonster @tbernard you can set the environment of an app and follow that by the style https://freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/chap-Metadata.html#tag-screenshots
@tbernard I know it's a bit late to comment on that, but I have the feeling the screenshot doesn't play well for apps with a small/narrow window, should I just artificially add padding to the first screenshot? I read in the guidelines that screenshots should have a reasonable size, but what if it's not an option? E.g. I see there is a toggle for fullscreen apps in the banner previewer so special cases exist.
Also I'm wondering, is there a plan to support dark mode screenshots too?
@tbernard Sorry if that's all been discussed previously, I'm trying to catch up on the previous 2 years of development and to understand where the ecosystem is at nowadays.
@KekunPlazas Small screenshots are not ideal atm indeed. If the height is too small we were discussing vertically centering, but if the width is too small we don't have a solution yet - mind opening an issue against the flathub website for this?
@tbernard With pleasure.
@KekunPlazas Btw, not sure about the yellow for this app, ot clashes a bit with the red. I'd go with reds here probably.
@tbernard I first tried red but it makes the app's icon super hard to read as the red fully encloses its other details, so I tried something else but I'm not really fond of the yellow either.
I limited myself to GNOME's palette, maybe that's the issue and I should try a lighter pinkish tone. I wish be had a nice little app to generate palettes for such use-cases, there are some rules to follow which can make decent — even if imperfect — palettes IIUC.
@tbernard Actually maybe I just need to desaturate them a bit.
@KekunPlazas I think making the light one a bit lighter and the dark one darker would do the trick
@tbernard@mastodon.social I... don't know what's happening here. This looks really far from fancy
Perhaps something happening with the CSS?
@tbernard @nah yeah, broke this earlier today. Waiting for response on https://github.com/facebook/docusaurus/issues/10005
