Pinned toot

It's wild how quickly mastodon is growing, I feel like this couldn't have happened even just a full year ago.

Pinned toot

Recently started knitting with the world's wildest freakin yarn.
I can barely tell what's going on but it looks nice so /shrug.

have almost all of celeste's b-side levels done, all I have left is chapter 6 and 8

but i think 6 is gonna just kill me, its so frustrating and all of the bumpers feel inconsistent and none of the deaths actually feel like my fault.

I am a collection of interesting but primarily useless skills.

so i just found out about hyperterminal. a terminal built in electron.

Ah yes, let me just, open my terminal, which uses 100mb of ram, and uses gpu acceleration, and actually bogs down and crashes when i call tree...

Electron is a plague, desktop applications should be built in desktop languages.

the worst thing ever is checking your grades when they are posted online, even when they end up being good. Im in a state of constant stress about what they will be and only ever check them at the last minute because of it.

What's that small Twitter like thing that was for really small shader code?

Really, asking "what should replace Facebook" is putting things the wrong way around.

A more interesting way to ask the question is, "what did Facebook replace."

People used to build their own websites. People used to have blogs. People used USENET which was truly distributed and un-censorable.

Facebook and Google took the open internet and open standards and monetized and made everything crappy. Enough of that. Nothing should replace Facebook, it's done, stick a fork in it.

i hate all code written by other people, especially the worst person of them all, Me From The Past

Mastodon is slowly working to make me a FLOSS junkie. I'm about to do some hacky stuff to take a journal app and tie it to my website so I have a easy way to push to it and maybe actually write on it. It feels very comp Sci ghetto in that good way, where everything is that little bit jank from using OSS instead of million dollar ux mastermind stuff built on unethical practices.

I dunno, it feels different in a way I can't quite place.

It would be really nice if I could browse the local timelines of instances I'm not a part of, to try and find people to follow more easily. I might look into making a feature request out of it once I have what all that would entail locked down better
