Once upon long ago I wrote and recorded an album worth of original music. I couldn't decide which song to link here, so here's the whole thing:

hello fellow anti capitalists how do you do

Google's Java libraries are a dependency nightmare, they always depend on commonly shared libraries like Guava or Protobuf, but Google makes newer versions of those libraries backwards incompatible, so when those libraries show up as transitive dependencies multiple times with different, mutually incompatible versions, you're basically fucked. Well, there are workarounds, but they are a serious pain in the ass.

Hey everyone! The zine I was a part of was released today!! It features "protest chants and depictions of victory in action" for marginalized groups!
Here's a birdsite link from the original organizer with more information about it: twitter.com/l1quidcryst4l/stat
You can also read about it and download the zine at wewillw.in/ !!!

a thing i really want to see is a movement towards making coding more accessable by both making better tutorials and better, more sensical syntax, creating community change (to be more new person helping friendly) and for us to actually consider changing the basics for the better (see: youtube.com/watch?v=8pTEmbeENF ) so that finally you saying 'just code it if you want it changed, our devs arent being paid' you arent just being nonconstructive

Okay here's a real toot that you can actually boost without people looking at you like you're crazy.

The past few weeks (okay, ever since the schism) I've felt kind of disenchanted by Mastodon and especially its development environment, and I wrote an essay about why that is. It's long, but if you're interested in Mastodon's history or politics you should give it a read.

The actual freedom is that you can make an instance where you can do whatever you want - not that you can do whatever you want on any instance.

La libertad real es que usted puede hacer una instancia donde se puede hacer lo que quiera - no es que se puede hacer lo que quiera en cualquier instancia.

By the way. If I post something and within 2-3 seconds I get favorited/boosted by an account I don't know, I'm assuming it's a bot and blocking it.

I've had enough bot activity on birdsite to last me a good few years. If you're doing a nifty exocortex project like @drwho , I would hope that your bot has some kind of friendly information attached to it that would prevent me from just banning it.

don't let your bots run around without tags, people.

If you're interested in legally obtaining ROM files for console and arcade games, one way is to purchase officially licensed emulator-based reissues for Android. The ROM dumps are in the apk file, usually.

I'm about 1/2 way through George L. Jackson's "Blood In My Eye". It's thoughtful, inspiring, and extremely revolutionary. Highly recommended.

First the queers and furries build a space where they can be themselves.

Then the infosec folks find that it fits well with their values.

Then the communists flock to the first real alternative to capitalist monopoly on shortform burst communication.

Then the artists come to find new walls to paint and nobody to tell them no.

The intellectuals, the chroniclers, the priests and the prophets, singly and in droves.

Slowly, it builds. It's neat to build an oral history from inception. #mastodon

I made an instance previewer, so you can see the local/federated feeds of an instance without signing up: unmung.com/mastoview?url=xoxo.

The most popular way to share music on social media seems to be youtube links. Problem is, everything sounds terrible on youtube, like napster-era 128 kbps mp3s.

I would like to dump the ROM for this 90s era Casio "Tone Bank" keyboard. End goal would be to create a bootleg ROM with better sounds. It's kind of a big project though, and a bit spendy since I don't have an EPROM programmer. I'll put it in my list of fun projects for people with vast amounts of free time.
