Chatting on xmpp. The crypto all seems to work. All free software and no big tech companies in the middle.

@bob XMPP crypto? I've heard there is an e2ee spec for it, but never seen an implementation. What about things like #signal or #wire?

@thinkMoult @bob signal is hostile to free software implementations using their server, and wire does not have a free software server (or didn't when I last checked). As such, they're both centralized and non-federated.
