Unpopular opinion: modern indie games often have way too much storytelling and/or the stories are so weird that they turn me away from playing.

Like, seriously, I would like to play your dungeon crawler but I don’t care about your fucking weird religious fetishes, thank you very much.

@thomasfuchs Of course, game designers can do whatever they want to do; I’m just longing for games that have stories that are interesting and engaging and aren’t autobiographical pathos-marinated sob-fests.

@thomasfuchs You might want to take a look at "A Wizard's Lizard" if you're looking for a more light-hearted ambient for your dungeon crawler experience :)

@thomasfuchs totally agree. We came for the gameplay, not the story.

@thomasfuchs What do you think about Braid? Was it one of the stories that you liked?

@turksavas I liked braid, but that’s almost a retro game by now, was released 10 years ago :)

@thomasfuchs I know, I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page :)

I believe the problem partly due to anyone being able to create a game and some people just try to copy instead of stealing.

They probably have set beliefs about how an indie game should be, which holds them back from being creative.
