Pretty cool: Signal is now using BlurHash (blurha.sh), the image placeholder algorithm I developed, which is also used by Mastodon, and of course Toot!:

How does #signal "private messenger" have access to the images in order to generate the hash, if it's supposed to be end to end encrypted and so super secure? 🤔🤔

@0 It has access to them at the client device, at least!

It can ne generated on the client sending side and sent along with the image
