anyway discord should have been an extension of irc. irc should have been extended to allow for avatars and async comms (like quassel). voice channels should have been voip like mumble

@yabirgb apparently it's written mostly in python, and flask for their REST API, from what i could find? they also use elixir for their "real time system" (whatever that is)

@trwnh elixir is used for things like this and makes sense for what their needs are. For sure it's a hard task

@trwnh discord bridging to irc is pretty trivial, the protocols are pretty interoperable. You could do it yourself, but matterbridge is super convenient for those purposes

@dgold oh sure, that works for passing the simplest of text around, but it's not a native experience.
