I can actually make out the Animalese dialogue now. The syllables and cadence match the Japanese text. It's spooky.

It's been an eye-opener! I'm really impressed by the localization team.
"Oh, I see! This guy's catchphrase is どうせ which is hard to translate but has a negative connotation, so he says 'sulky' in English!"
"This girl's catchphrase is a stereotypical marker of a Chinese person who doesn't speak fluent Japanese, so they changed it to 'rainbow'!"
