Does anyone have a good understanding of why USB-C Ethernet adapters seem to get so hot? It seems like a commonly reported issue, but what is the root cause and is it unavoidable?

This guy on YouTube has resorted to disassembling and *putting a heatsink* on his USB-C Ethernet adapter... honestly kind of shocked this is the state of affairs.
