@upshotknothole The #DeepL website uses GoogleAnalytics without the AnonymizeIP option. This means they violate German and European privacy law.

@Digitalcourage damn.

Uses Google Fonts too.

You guys know any other translation services besides asking a native tongue?

@upshotknothole @Digitalcourage

Well, there is translate.yandex.ru

I can't say it's better in terms of privacy but it's Google free :D

And for example @tom79 uses it with a special extension to provide more privacy for toot translations :)

@kevin Yeah it's really cool! And one can disable 3rd party google analytics (which wasn't possible when using google services directly)

@upshotknothole seems that DeepL Pro doesn't store translations: "DeepL Pro does not store the texts from your requests or their translations. Only metadata about the request (e.g. the time of the request, the IP address, or the number of translated characters) are saved for billing and statistics purposes."

Though they make no mention of the free version.... HMMMM :B

@upshotknothole
Great (works even better) alternative, but some.privacy issues : google analytics + tracking cookie on the website

@upshotknothole I always found the result to sound more natural than Google
