Now the question about elitism of code style rules is an interesting one, I suppose people are free to fork projects in different ways and if readability is actually necessary for maintainability, well, then the forks which gain the most traction will be the ones which continue to have code style rules.

The Tripos sources I'm looking at definitely conforms to no set of rules I can see; however, there's enough context in the code and in comments to *eventually* figure stuff out.
