The people of the town had a book that they held above all else. It was said to contain the teachings of their greatest master. Its words were sacred. Its very existence was considered a miracle.

So sacred was the book that no one was allowed to copy passages from it or read them aloud. Soon, they started punishing people for even talking about the book.

In time, they began to forget what the book said. But they never opened it, because they respected it a lot.
