Was also struck by how Ferrante draws out the insidious nature of fascism; how it takes root and thrives in the city neighbourhood through capitalist expansion, gang wars, corruption and oppression of women.

Just watched National Theatre's epic adaptation of Ferrante's Neopolitan novels - at once spectacular and emotionally draining.The HBO series was faithful to the books, but theatre better captures the raw intensity of this story.

Got my public library membership this week, and now halfway through my weekend reads. A Pale View of the Hills is hauntingly beautiful, and is definitely a story that will linger at the back of my mind for a long time.

A great piece on Pankaj Sekhsaria's new book The Last Wave, where he highlights the complex politics of conservation in the Andaman islands.
