For a long time, social media giants have been profiting from free content generated by the users.In exchange, the users have had their data exploited to manipulate them and their voices silenced to suit the powerful.

This dumping was long overdue. All it had needed was a spark, and people are fleeing Twitter.

My guess is that it is going to grow. Wouldn't be surprised to see many small instances pop up too.

I hope you realise that every single one of you who made the jump has already signed up for (a micro version of) the socialist ideal :D

Once upon a time, there was a very powerful bird. So powerful, that it silenced the voices of people who didn’t agree with it. And then an elephant stomped on it.

I heard Mastodon is becoming popular in India now, that is great news. Welcome everyone

What's happening here at #Fediverse is the true network effect.

There are no paid advertisements. People inviting other people to join the network that is built democratically from the bottom up and has the idea of federation built in.

Without federation, we couldn't really challenge the hegemony of Facebook or Twitter, or Google or Youtube.

It becomes very clear that the idea of #Federation is the key not only for digital platforms but social movements as well.

Educate! Agitate! Organize! and Federate!

It's actually great to be a part of something new like Mastodon. Totally got a different feel to it.
